ADDENDUM: VSC Addendum for Article 10 #75 above:
Starting in the 2025/26 season, HEO has launched a new Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) process across its member organizations in collaboration with Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) and Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO). This process is standard across all MHA’s in Ontario as part of Ontario Hockey’s broader initiative to modernize and streamline administrative functions while maintaining the highest standards of accountability and protection in youth hockey.
For returning volunteers who’s VSC has been completed within the last 3 years.
1. Complete the online declaration in the Ontario Screening Submission Portal: Ontario Screening Submission Portal. You will need your HCR number found in your Hockey Canada Registry profile.
For new volunteers, or volunteers whose Vulnerable Sector Check has expired:
1. Use the VSC request volunteer letter on Muskrat’s website. Ensure you DATE the letter. https://muskratminorhockey.ca/Pages/1447/Volunteer_Screening/
2. Submit your application for your Vulnerable Sector Check here: OPP VSC Application. You will receive an email receipt that your application is submitted. This is not your VSC. You need to keep this email to submit to the Ontario Screening Submission Portal.
3. New volunteers must register with Muskrat Minor Hockey in the Hockey Canada Registry prior to submitting their screening. Our registrar can help you with this, [email protected]
4. The police services generally take 6-8 weeks to process an application, so you should start this process as soon as possible. While you wait for your VSC to be completed, you can submit the receipt (that was received via email when completing your application) and declaration in the meantime. Before entering the Ontario Screening Submission Portal, make sure you have your receipt from the OPP, and your HCR number (found in your profile in the Hockey Canada Registry). The receipt and declaration must be submitted here: Ontario Screening Submission Portal
5. When you receive the completed VSC from the OPP, it must be submitted in the same Ontario Screening Submission Portal used above.
