We are just about ready to go! Below are our ice times
in Cobden for the next few weeks.
We appreciate your patience while we worked through the
challenges of the off-season, advocating for home ice for minor hockey. I
would like to thank our volunteer MMHA Executive, the elected Council and staff
of the Township of Whitewater Region, Beachburg Rec Association, the Westmeath
DRA, and our dedicated hockey families for working together to ensure our young
players had a voice, ice and a plan for the upcoming season.
This initial schedule was a challenge, and
we ask for your patience on these ice times. We had to work with late ice
and limited hours to fit everyone into the Cobden arena for the first month, or
longer, while meeting league deadlines to form teams on time.
These first few weeks include some 5 pm ice times and some later ice times on
school nights for some age groups. We understand that being at the rink before
5 pm will be a challenge for many families, we cannot host league games before
6 pm, and that sleep is also extremely important. We are hoping to shuffle a few ice times to a second or third arena later this
fall. We have also worked with Twp staff on plans to reschedule team ice
on days when we are hosting tournaments in Cobden. Please know that your
voices, and our voices, have been heard.
We look forward to a great pre-season and will see you all
next week.
